Leading hospitality team joins Savills US
05 August 2011
Savills has appointed three of America’s most accomplished hospitality executives to join its Washington DC office.
Marc Magazine, Tom Baker and Dave Durbin, who together most recently founded and served as principals of Humboldt Hospitality Advisors LLC will significantly broaden Savills’ overall service offering by expanding the company's full-spectrum, full-service hospitality advisory platform. They will provide owners, investors, borrowers and lenders with strategic advisory services that maximize the long-term value of hotel assets and work in conjunction with the firm’s present hospitality experts based in New York. In addition to investment advice, the team will provide asset management services, focusing on the renovation, repositioning and rebranding of troubled lodging assets.
"Propelled by Savills’ global reach and our keen understanding of capital markets, the hospitality sector presents substantial growth opportunities for our company," said John D. Lyons, president and CEO of Savills LLC. "The hotel world recognizes the team as industry leaders. Their presence powerfully expands Savills’ capabilities in hospitality advisory services."
Marc Magazine was initially senior vice president in the CB Richard Ellis lodging group in Washington. At CB Richard Ellis, he led the firm’s Washington-based hospitality practice and helped facilitate more than $3 billion in transactions. Prior to forming Humboldt Hospitality in May 2010 alongside Dave Durbin and Tom Baker, Marc led the executive management team at Crestline Hotels & Resorts. Durbin served as Crestline Hotels & Resorts president and CEO and Baker, who oversaw the firm’s expansion, was chief investment officer.
Baker was also previously executive vice president of Durbin Companies, Inc., where he was responsible for development, property operations and marketing. In a hospitality management career spanning 35 years, he has worked with Nikko Hotels International, New York City’s Essex House and various Marriott properties. Durbin was president and CEO of Crestline where he oversaw operations of more than 70 hotel and resorts, and managed over 5,000 associates. He was previously president and co-founder of Durbin Companies, Inc., a privately held hotel management and development company, and had a 15-year management career with Marriott Hotels & Resorts.
Also joining the Savills hospitality team is Justin Magazine, formerly senior vice president at Humboldt Hospitality Advisors. He has worked in the Washington, DC area with CB Richard Ellis, Newfound Resorts and Octagon.
