Whitewater Shopping Centre, Newbridge, Ireland’s largest regional shopping centre is delighted to announce the planned opening of UCI in Mid-December, the much anticipated arrival of the state of the art six screen cinema complex which will include 3D projectors and the latest digital equipment. The cinema measures c. 2,295 sq.m and will have seating of approximately 1,050.

The entrance to the cinema will be located on the upper level beside Debenhams near the pedestrian footbridge to the multi-storey carpark and can also be accessed from The Avenue, an outdoor pedestrianised shopping area adjacent to the main entrance to Whitewater Opening just in time for Christmas, the cinema will provide a great boost in footfall for retailers at Whitewater, particularly on the upper level of the scheme.

The good news continues for Whitewater as more new retailers are soon to be announced over the coming weeks, resulting in 100 new jobs being created at the centre.

Commenting on the exciting news Lisa Fogarty, Centre Manager, noted that “UCI have selected Whitewater to open their first cinema in over 10 years and their first outside Dublin: a real testament to their confidence in Whitewater and Newbridge as a location. We are delighted with the new cinema, the jobs it is creating and the exciting times ahead for Whitewater.”

“2009 has been a difficult year for the retail industry, but Whitewater is holding its own and growing, something that really distinguished it from so many other shopping centres, and positions the Centre excellently for 2010” she added.

Whitewater Shopping Centre is located just off the main street of Newbridge, Co Kildare and is Ireland’s largest regional shopping centre. Since opening in 2006 Whitewater has proved to be one of the most successful shopping centres in Ireland and was one of the only centres to increase footfall in 2008. Anchored by Debenhams and Marks & Spencer, it was the first centre to offer international brands such as Zara, H&M, River Island and Tommy Hilfiger to a regional audience.
